Everyone is welcome and invited to St. Joseph’s Fall Bazaar on Saturday, October 14th 2023 from 11am-2pm! There will be a silent auction until 1:30pm along with a raffle drawing until 2pm and lunch (there is a fee for lunch!). Don’t miss out on some in town community fun, and if you would like to know more about St. Joseph’s church, their mission and future events visit them on their official website and see what else they have coming up.

Raffle tickets for St. Joseph’s Fall Bazaar can be purchased after mass at the church, at Keyboard Liquor, Valentini’s Supper Club, or by contacting Holly Baumgard or by sending raffle payment to her Venmo at “@Holly-Baumgard”! Tickets are $10 each and raffle participants do not have to be present in order to win. Raffle Prizes are as follows:

  • 1st Prize – $500
  • 2nd Prize – $400
  • 3rd Prize – $300
  • 4th Prize – $200
  • 5th Prize – $100

Trolley in the Dark Tours

Get ready for a spooky & historic time at Minnesota Discovery Center with the return of their Trolley in the Dark Tours! Just in time for Halloween, and on Friday the 13th no less! There’s something spooky about being in a historic place… in the dark! Come ride our historic trolley and get a tour of the Glen Location after hours. Guests can bring in their own flashlights, but it’s scarier in the dark! 

There’s something about October that makes everything just a little spookier, maybe it’s the chill in the air or how the hours seem to wind back and the dark creeps up faster than those daylit summer hours. Mix that together with a historic location and the heaviness of October night and you have a recipe for some spooky fun! Great idea to bring the kids out for, or bring a date!

If you have not experienced the Trolley in the Dark Tours before it’s absolutely something to experience and is the perfect way to dip your toes into the Halloween season! Try and find your way there, by flashlight or braving the dark!

Welcome to the brand new MDC Creative Lab for their Media Arts School! In partnership with Zeitgeist Film Duluth, Minnesota Discovery Center has recently opened up their latest addition to their learning center that includes iMac computers loaded with creative design and editing software, meeting rooms, multi-media studios, film/video equipment for on-site phot/video shoots & projects, digital tools & more!

Their goal is to empower, support, and educate Northland community members ages 16+ as active participants in shaping our culture, and engage diverse communities to rethink the way we view film, art, and local storytelling. We provide access and a platform to work, learn, create, and experience filmmaking and media production in our community.

Architectural Resources Inc. Merger

The Architectural Resources Inc. merger with the architecture and engineering firm, Widseth, will be effective as of August 1st, 2023. With offices in Hibbing and Duluth, Minn., ARI has been offering architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering, interior design, and landscape architecture design services across Minnesota and Wisconsin for more than 50 years.

This partnership will allow Widseth the ability to grow in key markets. A history of collaboration on 11 prior projects, including significant undertakings like the Brainerd Schools, laid the foundation for this merger.

Katie Hildenbrand, former president of ARI stated, “The cultural alignment and shared values between ARI and Widseth led to meaningful discussions, fostering an environment where joining forces became a natural next step. Merging with Widseth allows us the ability to offer an expanded suite of services to our long-time clients and the additional resources to continue to take on small and large-scale projects in our communities.”

Widseth president Tim Ramerth added, “All of us at Widseth are excited to build on our history of collaboration with our newest colleagues. For our clients, bringing our firms together creates dynamic teams with a new depth of expertise, geographic reach, and level of service—making sure they have a superior client experience. Katie Hildenbrand, CID, Ryan Erspamer, AIA, David Jordan, PE, and Karl Larsen, RA, are joining Widseth as vice presidents in the firm and will maintain their leadership roles in the Duluth and Hibbing offices. ARI also brings a talented team of 32 employees who will seamlessly integrate into Widseth, enriching the firm’s capabilities and expanding its reach across northeastern Minnesota and into Wisconsin.

Widseth’s footprint now extends to 12 locations, including Alexandria, Baxter/Brainerd, Bemidji, Crookston, Duluth, East Grand Forks, Hibbing, Mankato, Perham, Rochester, and Wyoming in Minnesota, as well as Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Chisholm Community Workshop

Come together with Strong Towns for the Chisholm Community Workshop that will be held on Tuesday, September 26th at 5:30PM. The public discussion will be held at the Chisholm Seniors Center and attendees will have an opportunity to talk about what the future of Chisholm should look like and how to get there. This is a perfect chance to make your voice heard!

How can we build a more prosperous town together? What do we want Chisholm to look like for our children & grandchildren? Everyone should be a part of this discussion!

Community members, city staff, and experts from Strong Towns will all get together to build Chisholm’s future. The Chisholm Community Workshop is part of an ongoing Community Action Lab program, led by the City of Chisholm & Strong Towns, a national non-profit that helps communities become financially resilient.

Grace Lutheran Trunk or Treat

The Grace Lutheran Trunk or Treat will be taking place on Halloween from 4PM-6PM at the Grace Lutheran Church in Chisholm. Deck out your vehicle to match your costume, listen to music and get all the candy you can! This is going to be a spooky-fun time for families to enjoy the season and community this October. If you would like to see updates on Grace Lutheran Church, their events and more, feel free to join their FB group and get all their news!

Grace Lutheran Church is located on 509 NW 9th St. Drive on up and be a part of the Halloween fun, and bring your spookiest costume to get the Halloween vibes going.

With so many opportunities to get in costume and enjoy some Halloween fun in Chisholm make sure you and your kids don’t miss out on the Grace Lutheran Trunk or Treat to get the last of this season’s candy grabbing fun! And don’t forget Lake Street Trick or Treat as well, stock up on the sweets and take home bags bursting with candy this year!

Project Care Free Clinic Pasta Feed logo

Project Care Free Clinic Pasta Feed

The Project Care Free Clinic will be taking place at the Hibbing Memorial Building dining room on Wednesday September 20th 2023. Proceeds from the Pasta Feed will be going toward Project Care Free Clinic which works towards benefitting families & individuals who are either uninsured or underinsured, visit their official website to see more about what they do and how they help the community. Those who want to grab some pasta and help the cause can either dine-in take-out or drive-thru for their meals which are $10 per adult and $5 for kids under 12!

  • Lunch: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Dinner: 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM

Interested in volunteering for the Project Care Free Clinic Pasta Feed?

Project Care Free Clinic is looking for more churches to help run the event for prepackaging items for take-out bags and to cook the penne noodles & sauce. Meatballs, coleslaw and butter pats have already been ordered through Fraboni’s and only need to be picked up on Tuesday prior to the event. On the day of the event people will be needed for the following:

  • Serve Meals
  • Fill Pasta Boxes
  • Reheat Food Items
  • Final Packers
  • Gopher Food up & down stairs for the drive-thru
  • Servers for Dine-in meals
  • Bussers for tables
  • Meal delivery
  • and other tasks that are needed throughout the day
