Sunscreen Film Festival North

About

Sunscreen Film Festival North is a new Non-Profit business addition to the Chisholm Area Chamber of Commerce. Sunscreen Film Festival North welcomes, promotes and nurtures writers, directors, cinematographers and actors alike. Our goal is to share independent filmmakers work on the big screen. Dedicated to showcasing works from all walks of life, we salute indie films because we know creativity is expected and encouraged and resourcefulness is demanded.

Our Story

We are a non profit organization that recognizes creatives. We showcase filmmaker's works from around the world at our annual festival in Chisholm, Minnesota. We realized that we have the means, mentorship and access to equipment and industry professionals to help young filmmakers see their project on the big screen.

What We Do

We developed a Cinematic Arts Program for young filmmakers looking to expand their hands on knowledge of the art of filmmaking from script development to final cut.

Who We Are

We are a non profit film festival that focuses on showcasing independent films and promotes all aspects of filmmaking.

Our Mentees

We welcome all walks of life that are interested in making films. Our typical class of mentees consists of high school students that come to us via referral or have volunteered or attended a past festival.

Hands On Projects

Our projects are all hands on. This is a learn-by-doing program.

How Are We Different

We are lucky to be able to have industry professionals in our area that generously offer their time and expertise to our mentees. This gives us the opportunity to offer 1:1 mentoring.

How You Can Help

Volunteer to be a Mentor! Donate or allow our program access to your professional equipment (lights, sound equipment, edit bay, cameras, costumes, props…).

Our Legacy

Past mentees include graduates from NYU Film School School, USC Film School, Chapman University, Dodge College of Media Arts, Sarah Lawrence/Prague Film School, and current attendees at Savannah College of Art and Design, University of Texas at Austin, and University of Oregon.
