Architectural Resources Inc. Merger logo

Architectural Resources Inc. Merger

The Architectural Resources Inc. merger with the architecture and engineering firm, Widseth, will be effective as of August 1st, 2023. With offices in Hibbing and Duluth, Minn., ARI has been offering architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering, interior design, and landscape architecture design services across Minnesota and Wisconsin for more than 50 years.

This partnership will allow Widseth the ability to grow in key markets. A history of collaboration on 11 prior projects, including significant undertakings like the Brainerd Schools, laid the foundation for this merger.

Katie Hildenbrand, former president of ARI stated, “The cultural alignment and shared values between ARI and Widseth led to meaningful discussions, fostering an environment where joining forces became a natural next step. Merging with Widseth allows us the ability to offer an expanded suite of services to our long-time clients and the additional resources to continue to take on small and large-scale projects in our communities.”

Widseth president Tim Ramerth added, “All of us at Widseth are excited to build on our history of collaboration with our newest colleagues. For our clients, bringing our firms together creates dynamic teams with a new depth of expertise, geographic reach, and level of service—making sure they have a superior client experience. Expanding services and growing our offices to better serve our clients is an important strategic initiative for Widseth. We are looking forward to our journey together.”

Katie Hildenbrand, CID, Ryan Erspamer, AIA, David Jordan, PE, and Karl Larsen, RA, are joining Widseth as vice presidents in the firm and will maintain their leadership roles in the Duluth and Hibbing offices. ARI also brings a talented team of 32 employees who will seamlessly integrate into Widseth, enriching the firm’s capabilities and expanding its reach across northeastern Minnesota and into Wisconsin.

Widseth’s footprint now extends to 12 locations, including Alexandria, Baxter/Brainerd, Bemidji, Crookston, Duluth, East Grand Forks, Hibbing, Mankato, Perham, Rochester, and Wyoming in Minnesota, as well as Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Chisholm Community Workshop logo

Chisholm Community Workshop

Come together with Strong Towns for the Chisholm Community Workshop that will be held on Tuesday, September 26th at 5:30PM. The public discussion will be held at the Chisholm Seniors Center and attendees will have an opportunity to talk about what the future of Chisholm should look like and how to get there. This is a perfect chance to make your voice heard!

How can we build a more prosperous town together? What do we want Chisholm to look like for our children & grandchildren? Everyone should be a part of this discussion!

Community members, city staff, and experts from Strong Towns will all get together to build Chisholm’s future. The Chisholm Community Workshop is part of an ongoing Community Action Lab program, led by the City of Chisholm & Strong Towns, a national non-profit that helps communities become financially resilient.

About Strong Towns

Strong Towns is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit media advocacy organization. We produce content that analyzes the failures of the post-war North American development pattern while giving citizens the knowledge and tools to start making our places better today.

We seek to have the Strong Towns Approach be the default way that every city, town, and neighborhood pursues growth, development, and prosperity.

We seek to replace America’s post-war pattern of development, the Suburban Experiment, with a pattern of development that is financially strong and resilient. We advocate for cities of all sizes to be safe, livable, and inviting. We work to elevate local government to be the highest level of collaboration for people working together in a place, not merely the lowest level in a hierarchy of governments.

Want to know more about Strong Towns and their work specifically in our city? Visit them on their website for updates!
