The Chisholm Chamber Chilly Open Golf Tournament is back on Saturday March 11th!

 
The annual Chilly Open Golf Tournament is returning this March and you can get registered in advance or on the day of! Can you think of a better way to beat the winter blues than brushing up on your golfing skills with Bloody Marys and chili? There is no cap on the amount of teams who will be allowed to participate so if you have more than 4-5  friends or family who want to get in on the games then split into two teams and have twice as much fun! Visit the event on the Chisholm Area Chamber of Commerce FB page and see who else is competing!
 

FAQ’s

How Many People per team?

  • 4-5 Person teams, must be 18 or older to participate.

What should participants bring?

  • Hockey sticks or golf sticks may be used, racquet balls will be provided 

How much is registration & what is included?

  • Registration is $40 per person and includes dinner at Jim’s, games on the course, door prize entry at the Jim’s after party, as well as the Bloody Mary Bar & Chili Bar that will be on site at the event.

Hoop Club Pasta Fundraiser: Skip Cooking Dinner For a Cause

The Hoop Club Pasta Fundraiser is back with Polar Bear Days! Come out and have some pasta for a cause on Wednesday, February 22nd from 4-7 PM at Valentini’s Supper Club in Chisholm! Proceeds from the Hoop Club Pasta Dinner go towards tournament costs, scholarships and other necessities to operate the club. 

Are you interested in what the Hoop Club does, what they’re about and who they benefit? Visit them on their group page and learn about the work they do with Chisholm kids and why they are a benefit to the community! Take a golden opportunity to skip cooking for a night and help this community organization by eating pasta at Valentini’s.

Sled the City

Sled the City: The Anticipated End of Polar Bear Days Sledding Party

Sled the City will be taking place on Saturday, February 25th from 10AM-4PM at the top of 3rd Street and it’s set to be a fun filled day of sledding & ice skating! There will also be free books & cookies provided by the Chisholm Public Library at the South Side Skating Rink at the bottom of the hill where attendees can enjoy open skate. 

Sled the City is fairly new insofar as our Annual Polar Bear Days events and it is possibly some of the best fun you can have in town this winter, a sledding party right in downtown is definitely something nobody would want to miss!

There’s a few other in town events on the 25th too that you should check out if you’re planning on sledding through Chisholm:

  1. Chisholm Lion’s Club Kids Pajama Party – from 11AM-1PM at Jim’s (Bring the kids in after sledding to warm up, play games, and grab some snacks!)
  2. 12th Annual Luau – 8PM Costume Party at Jim’s with LIVE music by “Merchants of Swill” Limbo contest, costume contest & fishbowl drinks.
  3. Pool Tournament at T&T DOM – Pool tournament at 3PM and LIVE music by “The Hooligans” at 6PM
  4. Snowshoe Adventure Hike at MDC – 1PM-3PM  3-mile guided snowshoe hike to the historic Glen Location with a bonfire, s’mores, and hot cocoa in front of the Thompson Homestead Exhibit.

Polar Bear Days Annual $12K Raffle

The Annual $12K Raffle for the Polar Bear Days Festival is back and the drawing will be on February 15th at Tom & Jerry’s Bar! Tickets are $100 each and can be found at Jim’s, Valentini’s Tom & Jerry’s, Keyboard, and the Chisholm Chamber Office. 

There will also be side raffles and a secondary drawing for additional cash prizes, a live auction, and a “cash cube” where you will have fifteen seconds to grab as much cash as you can! Although you don’t need to be present to win the main prizes it is highly recommended to be there for all of the extra prizes. 

The Cash Cube is sponsored by First National Bank, check them out and see what your local bank can offer you in savings & loans!

Chisholm Kiwanis Ice Fishing Contest

The Chisholm Kiwanis Ice Fishing Contest is back again this year during February’s Annual Polar Bear Days Festival. There will be prizes, foods, and plenty of fish to catch this year!

Why wait for the summer? Come out on the lake this winter for a community ice fishing competition and win cash prizes for various fish categories! It’s sure to be a fun chance to get the family out and active during these winter months and you might even catch a winner!

Come out to Longyear Lake (North side only) on Saturday, February 18th, 2023

Registration is at 9am-10am / Fishing 10am-2pm

NTXX Annual Polar Bear Days Ride logo

NTXX Polar Bear Ride

Hit the Trails with Food, Fun & Community

The Annual NTXX Polar Bear Ride will start on February 25th and will meet at Jim’s Sports Club at 9AM for breakfast specials before heading out to the trails at 10AM. Ride with NTXX to the Highway 5 Bar on the Chisholm ATV trail for a pit stop before continuing on to the Chisholm Sportsmen’s Club Shelter for FREE lunch of polish & chips and a bonfire!

The ride continues on toward Side Lake (at each rider’s personal pace) and will conclude back in Chisholm where there will be a party at Jim’s Annual Luau with food and entertainment!

Information Worth Noting for the NTXX Polar Bear Day Ride

  • Make sure to dress for the weather as temperatures have varied for this annual ride from -20 degrees to 55 degrees
  • There will be ZERO tolerance for ATVs on the designated snowmobile trails. ATV riders should only use designated ATV trails

Costumes, Dancing, Music & More!

Save the dates for some upcoming Polar Bear Days parties at Jim’s Sports Club Bar & Grill this February! Nothing beats the winter blues quite like music, costume parties & dancing; this February you can catch two themed parties right in downtown Chisholm with their Dancing Through the Decades costume party on February 18th & their 12th Annual Luau Party on February 25th! Why wait for spring to get here when we can have a party now?

Dancing Through the Decades Polar Bear Days Costume Party

The first of Polar Bear Days parties at Jim’s is Dancing Through the Decades which will be on February 18th at 9PM. Dress to the 9’s in your favorite historical era (whether or not that is strictly 20th Century is up to your interpretation & imagination) and party with flap dancers, hippies, 80’s metal rock bands, and mobsters in a time-warp winter wrap-up celebration of the times party that is sure to be an amazing time!

12th Annual Polar Bear Days Luau Party

The 12th Annual Luau Party at Jim’s will take place on February 25th and marks the end of Polar Bear Days. There will be LIVE music from Merchants of Swill starting at 8PM and lots of tropical themed fun to be had throughout the evening, so make sure to break out your grass skirts! 

Precluding the Luau will be the Chisholm Lions Kids Pajama Party with games, bingo & snacks so the kids can have a party this February too!

The Side Lake Winter Festival will be taking place on January 21st at the Side Lake Community Center from 1PM – 4PM!  Make sure to bring your friends and family out to shake off some of those winter blues and to dive in to a day of winter fun. Discover Snowshoeing This Winter at Minnesota Discovery Center

There are plenty of opportunities to discover snowshoeing this season with a few events planned at Minnesota Discovery Center (MDC). Reservations must be made in advance as there is limited availability for these guided tours; admission for members is $18 and $20 for non-members. To make your reservation now contact MDC at 218-254-7959!

Upcoming Snowshoe Hikes:

  • Snow Moon Snowshoe Hike – February 2nd starting at 5:30PM (Hike begins at 6PM) For this snowshoe hike, we’ll embark on a 3-mile (round trip) adventure to the historic Glen Location with our trained snowshoe guides. Our guides will point out fun facts and historic artifacts along the way. After exploring, will brew some hot cocoa and roast the perfect s’more over a bonfire in front of the Thompson Homestead. There’s something majestic about snowshoeing in the soft light of the February Snow Moon!
  • Snowshoe Adventure Hike – Saturday, February 25th 12:30PM to 3PM
  • Moonlit Snowshoe Hike – Thursday, March 9th 5:30PM to 8PM

Please note that the Minnesota Discovery Center’s cold weather policy permits that we cancel/postpone hikes if the temperature is below zero, unless guides suggest otherwise. Full refunds will be issued if MDC cancels the event and/or if cancellations are made at least 24 hours in advance of the event. If events are full, ask our admissions staff to add your name to the waiting list for that event and our staff will contact you if spots become available.
