Connect With Us

The Northland Foundation is one of six Minnesota Initiative Foundations created in 1986 by the McKnight Foundation. Their priorities and programs are tailored to the communities that they serve which are:

  • County of Aitkin
  • County of Carlton
  • Cook County
  • Itasca County
  • Koochiching County
  • Lake County
  • St. Louis County
  • Bois Forte Band of Chippewa
  • Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa
  • Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe (District I)
  • Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe (District II)

Overarching the Foundation’s programs and initiatives are three intersecting Strategic Focus Areas: Children & Youth, Individual & Community Wellbeing, and Economy & Jobs. Through grantmaking, an operating program, business lending and technical assistance, and special initiatives, they help people and communities in our region to move forward together. Visit the Northland Foundation on their official website! Northland Foundation's office is on the 8th floor of the Sellwood Building in downtown Duluth, but most of their staff team work hybrid or remotely.
