About Upper Midwest Film Office
For more than 30 years, the Upper Midwest Film Office has been helping content makers find their perfect location, introducing them to the community, assisting with lodging and crew, and being on call for the many unforeseen needs that arise during production. You can count on the UMF as your connector and personal concierge to the local community.
Advancing the creative economy across the region by connecting creators to workforce is the goal of UMF and both creators and potential crew can make their connections here.
Internships
A trained workforce is integral to the success of film, tv, and commercial production in the region. Therefore, one of UMFO’s main priorities is workforce development. UMFO has created a platform to connect interns to incoming projects in order to comply with St Louis County Rebate Program guidelines.
GOAL: A pipeline of interns to incoming projects that turn into trained workforce participants.
DESCRIPTION: The UMFO Internship program provides a platform/database for students and productions to connect and allow participants to gain experience with productions
Incentives
In partnership with the Duluth Economic Development Authority (DEDA), the City of Duluth Production Incentive Program offers financial assistance in the form of a production rebate to certified applicants to encourage the creation of film, television, and digital media content in Duluth, MN. The program provides a reimbursement of up to 25% of production and post costs for film, television, episodic and commercial content projects that are spent in the City of Duluth. The Upper Midwest Film Office (UMFO) is the administrator for the program.
