State Championship Coming to Redhead Mountain Bike Park
Get ready for an exciting weekend of mountain biking in Chisholm! The Minnesota Cycling Association State Championship comes to Redhead Mountain Bike Park on October 10 and 11, 2026.
Redhead sits on the beautiful grounds of the Minnesota Discovery Center. Its trails wind through the walls of a former mine pit. As a result, riders enjoy one of the most unique landscapes on the Iron Range.
The championship course includes several types of terrain and trail features. Therefore, student-athletes will have many chances to test their skills.
Pre-Ride Opportunities
Student-athletes may explore the course before racing begins. The course will remain open for pre-riding until the Thursday before the event.
Teams may also pre-ride during scheduled times on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. However, student-athletes must ride with a coach. All riders and coaches must also have a valid number plate.
Most importantly, pre-riding gives racers time to learn the trail. Riders should not travel at race speed during a pre-ride.

Walk Your Bike Areas
Several busy locations will serve as Walk Your Bike Areas. These include team tents, registration, medical tents, and the start-line staging area.
Everyone must walk their bike through these areas. Scootering with one foot on a pedal is not allowed. In addition, visitors may not ride scooters, skateboards, or other wheeled devices in these areas. Wheelchairs and mobility chairs are allowed.
If you are unsure whether riding is permitted, please walk your bike. This simple step helps protect racers, volunteers, and spectators.
Food and Visitor Information
Spectators are welcome to cheer on the racers throughout the weekend. Food and beverages will also be available from:
- Nette’s Diner & Catering
- Curbside Crepes
- Drogo’s Coffee
Dogs may enter the infield, but owners must keep them leashed and under control. Owners must also clean up after their pets.
Additionally, please use the available trash containers to help keep Redhead beautiful. Drones are not allowed at Minnesota Cycling Association events.
Racers: Be Race Ready
Before arriving, riders should make sure their bikes are ready for competition. Racers should bring basic tools and repair supplies, including:
- A CO₂ canister or hand pump
- A puncture repair kit
- A spare inner tube
- Spare chain links and chain lubricant
- A multi-tool
Riders can also download the Redhead course GPX file. The file works with Garmin, Wahoo, Strava, and other compatible navigation devices.
