MDC Family Discovery Day: Archaeology

October celebrates International Archaeology Day! Discover more about what archaeology is, what archaeologists do, and how we can learn about the past by looking at objects people left behind. Enjoy fun activities like breaking a dish, pot, or cup and putting it back together much like archaeologist do when they discover items in the field at the MDC Family Discovery Day: Archaeology on Saturday, October 21st from 11AM-4PM!

Rock Hounds Abound

Come out to the MDC Family Discovery Day: Rock Hounds Abound and explore geology with the family on Thursday, August 31st from 4 PM to 7 PM.

Love minerals?  Have a kid who picks up every rock they see?  Want to learn more about geology?  Come hang out and let’s talk rocks.  Hands on activities for the kids and specimens you can touch!

Geologists from Mesabi Range Geological Society will be at the Discovery Center to talk rocks with all who are excited about geology, rocks, minerals and iron deposits.  Bring your rock questions and specimens you would like to try and identify.  Hands on activities for kids learning about rock types and mineral properties!

This event is free and open to the public and is great for all ages! Food will be available for purchase in The Rustic Pig Food Court from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. Lice music by Reggie Ducote starting at 5pm.
