The Chisholm Chamber Six Pistol Gun Raffle tickets are now available to purchase for $25 per ticket.  The drawing will be held on Wednesday, November 19th at 6:00pm at Jim’s Sports Club.  Need not be present to win.  The chamber purchased the pistols from Joe Arnold of Guns of Wright on 1515 Tamarack Lake Rd, Wright, MN.  Joe will be available to distribute the winners their pistols on Wednesday, November 26th at Jim’s as well.  You will need to present your documentation to receive their pistol.  If you are unable to meet or provide pertinent documentation, you can make arrangements through Joe to meet in Wright at a later date.

Since the pistol is being transferred through a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) (Guns of Wright)

You’ll need to provide:

  1. Valid government-issued photo ID (MN driver’s license, passport, etc.)

  2. Permit to Purchase (obtained from your local police or sheriff’s office)

OR a Permit to Carry (if you already have one).

  3. The FFL will run a NICS background check at the time of transfer.

  4. Once cleared, you can legally receive the pistol

  5. This is the most common and legally safe method of transferring a firearm won in a raffle or drawing.

The 4 Fundamental Rules of Gun Safety

  1. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.

    • Never assume a pistol is unloaded. Always check the chamber and magazine yourself.

  2. Never point the gun at anything you’re not willing to destroy.

    • Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.

  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot.

    • Rest your finger alongside the frame, not inside the trigger guard.

  4. Know your target and what’s beyond it.

    • Bullets can penetrate walls, people, and objects—be aware of what’s behind your target.

Handling Safety Tips

  • Always check if a pistol is loaded when picking it up, even if someone says it’s unloaded.

  • Unload your pistol when not in use. Store the firearm and ammunition separately.

  • Never rely solely on a mechanical safety. Use it, but don’t trust it over the 4 safety rules.

  • Use the correct ammunition. The wrong caliber can cause catastrophic failure.

  • Avoid alcohol, drugs, or fatigue when handling firearms.

Storage Safety

  • Use a gun safe, lock box, or cable lock to secure your pistol.

  • Keep firearms away from children and unauthorized users.

  • Store pistols unloaded and locked when not in use.

  • Use a chamber flag if you need to show a pistol is unloaded for storage or transport.

Range Safety Etiquette

  • Always keep your pistol pointed downrange.

  • Follow the range officer’s commands and posted rules.

  • Don’t handle firearms when people are downrange.

  • Wear eye and ear protection at all times.

Legal Safety (Minnesota-specific)

  • You must have a Permit to Carry to legally carry a loaded pistol in public.

  • When transporting a pistol without a carry permit, it must be:

    • Unloaded

    • In a locked or fastened case

  • Know your self-defense and firearm use laws in Minnesota—deadly force is only legal in very specific circumstances.
