Discover snowshoeing this winter at the Minnesota Discovery Center with their three annual snowshoe hike events that take visitors on a guided tour of the historic Glen location. Attendees can enjoy a bonfire and hot cocoa after the hike on the MDC campus.

Upcoming Snowshoe Hike Events

Wolf Moon Snowshoe Hike

January 25th beginning at 5:30PM

Description: There’s something majestic about snowshoeing in the soft light of the January Full Moon (Wolf Moon)! For this snowshoe hike, we’ll embark on a 3-mile (round trip) adventure to the historic Glen Location with our trained snowshoe guides. Our guides will point out fun facts and historic artifacts along the way. After exploring, will brew some hot cocoa and roast the perfect s’more over a bonfire in front of the Thompson Homestead.

Pricing/Rentals/Trail: Admission for this hike is $18 per member and $20 per non-member. This price includes snowshoe rentals and poles (capacity for this event is 25). You can bring your own snowshoes (no discount).  All participants must be 12 years of age or older, if younger than 12, a parent and/or guardian is mandatory. The snowshoe trail level for this hike is beginner (terrain) to intermediate (distance).

Pre-paid reservations are required – call 218-254-7959 today!

Visitor Information: Upon arrival on the MDC campus, follow digital navigation signs in the parking lot to the winter museum entrance in the back parking lot. It is recommended that you arrive at 5:00pm for this event to give yourself time to obtain equipment and prepare for the hike. The hike begins at 5:30pm. MDC guides and admissions staff are available to assist individuals who need instruction on how to properly wear snowshoes.

Please note that the Minnesota Discovery Center’s cold weather policy permits that we cancel/postpone hikes if the temperature is below zero, unless guides suggest otherwise. Full refunds will be issued if MDC cancels the event and/or if cancellations are made at least 24 hours in advance of the event. If events are full, ask our admissions staff to add your name to the waiting list for that event and our staff will contact you if spots become available.

February 10th starting at 12:30PM
